Brunei Aquatics Statement of Anti-Doping Policy
STATEMENT
The Brunei Aquatics has, on November 27, 2021, entered into the Collective Policy, thus affirming the commitment to:
- Recognize and acknowledge Brunei Darussalam Anti-Doping Committee (BDADC) as the designated National Anti-Doping Organization responsible for doping-related matters in Brunei Darussalam.
- Embrace the Anti-Doping Policy of Brunei Darussalam and the BDADC Anti-Doping Rules, which adhere to the World Anti-Doping Code, as the foundation for the fight against doping in sports.
- Integrate the Anti-Doping Policy of Brunei Darussalam and the BDADC Anti-Doping Rules into governing documents, constitutions, and regulations, making them binding for all our members and participants.
- Comply with and enforce the provisions of the Anti-Doping Policy of Brunei Darussalam and the BDADC Anti-Doping Rules within the context of its activities.
Brunei Aquatics condemns doping in sports and recognizes the right of all athletes to compete in a drug-free sporting environment. The association is dedicated to educating, informing, and, when necessary, testing individuals participating in swimming, water polo, diving, artistic swimming, and open water swimming in Brunei Darussalam and representing the nation to ensure a clean and fair sporting arena.
Participation in the sport mandates that all athletes, athlete support personnel, and individuals under the jurisdiction of the Brunei Aquatics adhere to the Anti-Doping Policy of Brunei Darussalam and the BDADC Anti-Doping Rules as outlined and published by the association and BDADC.
Regarding athlete testing, the Brunei Aquatics is committed to managing results in a confidential and accountable manner. The association will follow disciplinary procedures as outlined in the BDADC Anti-Doping Rules, working alongside its members and BDADC to collect doping control samples. The comprehensive disciplinary procedure for rule violations is fully detailed in the BDADC Anti-Doping Rules.
ANTI-DOPING RULES
The Executive Committee of the Brunei Aquatics adopted the BDADC Anti-Doping Rules on November 27, 2021. These rules are now recognized as the Brunei Aquatics Anti-Doping Rules.
The BDAD Anti-Doping Rules, as periodically amended and published by Anti-Doping Brunei Darussalam (or its successor), are immediately effective and regarded as the official rules of the Brunei Aquatics.
APPLICATION OF ANTI-DOPING RULES
All affiliates, members, athletes, participants, staff, and any other individuals, whether on a paid or volunteer basis, who fall under the jurisdiction of the Brunei Aquatics are bound by the Anti-Doping Rules of the Brunei Aquatics. They pledge to comply with these rules.
WELCOME TO DOPING CONTROL
Doping Control regulations apply to all active athletes registered with the Brunei Aquatics, reflecting our strong stance against drug use in sports.
At major competitions, all participating athletes may be subject to anti-doping testing. Testing can occur at various locations, including an athlete's residence, training facilities, or competition venues, conducted by accredited Doping Control Officers (DCOs) from Brunei Darussalam Anti-Doping Committee(BDADC).
Doping Control rules can be complex, and we recognize that athletes, coaches, and parents may have questions and concerns. Therefore, we aim to provide simplified and clarified information regarding doping control.
Athletes must be diligent about monitoring their medication use throughout their participation in the sport. It is crucial to declare any medication taken within two weeks before providing a doping control sample.
To enable BDADC to locate athletes easily, all athletes must update their whereabouts in the Anti-Doping Administration & Management System (ADAMS). Accurate and up-to-date whereabouts information is particularly critical for athletes in the Registered Testing Pool (RTP) to avoid potential anti-doping violations and associated sanctions. You can log in to ADAMS at ADAMS Log-in.
Whereabouts Failures
It is the responsibility of athletes in the RTP to maintain accurate and up-to-date whereabouts information at all times. Failure to do so may result in a Whereabouts Failure being recorded.
Missed Tests
If an athlete is unavailable for testing during their specified 60-minute slot, as provided by the athlete, a Missed Test may be recorded.
Filing Failures
A Filing Failure may be recorded if an athlete fails to provide and update the required Whereabouts information. Any combination of three Missed Tests and/or Filing Failures within a 12-month period constitutes an Anti-Doping Rule Violation. The duration of the sanction ranges from one to two years, depending on the athlete's level of responsibility.
Retirement and Reinstatement
Athletes in the RTP or DTP who plan to retire from active competition must formally notify ADBD by using the ADS Athlete Retirement Notification Form.
Athletes who previously retired while in the RTP or DTP and intend to return to active competition must provide official notification to BDADC and their NSA at least six months before returning to competition.
